What a Beautiful New Year's Eve!!
Last night, my maternal grandma, who’s suffering from lung cancer, fell into a coma.  Mom and I immediately drove to Saint Vincent’s hospital and talked with her the whole night, holding her hand and urging her to do her best to welcome the new year with us.  Since the doctors didn’t think she’d last very long, I called my aunt and my cousin and had them talk to grandma for...

The Remainder of the Year
After coming back from Miami, I’ve been studying (less than I should), exercising (back to normal strength), eating poorly (lots of chocolates), and meeting up with a few friends.  Yesterday, despite this small cold I’m developing, I went to Disneyland with a small portion of my college clique (I even made a few new friends).  :-) It was beautiful there.  The fireworks gave me...

I'm Home!
Managed to return home to Los Angeles last night, despite the confusion with multiple gate changes and the hour delay in fixing a broken airplane tray table.  See scarily appropriate mobile picture I snapped below at MIA: Anyway, I quickly readjusted to LA time, waking up at 8:30am here (as opposed to 11:30am in Miami), treadmilled, cuddled Cocoa to mutual exhaustion, visited my grandparents,...

Quiz 2 and Clinical Quiz 1
Yes, quiz two was more difficult than quiz one, but it was manageable.  Doctor Lindner (Microbiology/Immunology) LOVES asking tricky questions.  She’s a stickler for wording. Physio was kind of difficult this time around, because Doctor Lotocki loves asking second or third order questions, but all you have to do is think a bit.  Answering doesn’t take too much time and it’s...

Study Strategy and Some Material
The way I study: Listen to lecture and write notes Rewrite notes with textbook supplement (and a little help from Wikipedia and Dictionary.com) Make notes more concise using flow-charts and drawings Answer related questions on wiki.answers.com to see if I have comprehensive understanding of the subject(s) Rewrite/redraw the notes until I have them memorized forward and back The result of my...

Winn-Dixie Labels
I went to the Winn-Dixie Supermarket today and saw these “toys for girls” on sale: Girls nowadays just love playing with ultra-muscular Barbies! Or…okay.  So they’re more like steroid Ken dolls, but with just a little imagination and some help of (apparently also on sale), I’m sure Christmas will be a blast no matter how cheap one’s parents are.

MERP schedule and update
Our schedule keeps changing.  It now looks like this: . Who knows when it’ll change again. Anyway, this week, I took the quiz and the group quiz on Wednesday (the way it was previously scheduled).  The group quiz is simply a reiteration of the individual quiz, except answered in collaboration with about five other people.  There are two MERP classes going on simultaneously with 70 students...

First Day of Class
Today, we had Physiology with Doctor Lotocki and Microbiology with Doctor Lindner.  Both are very clear teachers.  Their pace isn’t too fast and they make sure we’re caught up.  Doctor Lindner is a bit more proactive in her teaching in that she wants us to individually raise our hands and answer questions, while Doctor Lotocki asks the class in general. The lessons weren’t...
