It's my birthday!
Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday!  Each of you made my day a little brighter.  Special thanks to the people who made me feel a little less lonely: Mayumi, who visited me in Miami, and as always, my loving family.  Check out my birthday cards! The priority mail package in the back is the awesome present my parents sent me: Yes, that’s right.  It’s the bread...

HI! There are few (material) things that make me happier and PUMP ME UP more than bread and since my very generous parents graciously priority-shipped some over to me, I have decided to open my heart to the WORLD! YES!  Be afraid and let us explore its mysterious chambers and figuratively boundless depths with the help of MSPaint! Back when I was young (oh those good old days), non-specific...

Boredom + Underestimation
Having finished completing and reviewing my study-packets for the upcoming quiz, I decided to take a break and surf the web.  I visited all the usual sites (digg, facebook, redorbit, smbc, xkcd, pictures for sad children, oddly specific, etc) and then, I suddenly lost interest.  Yes, I don’t know how it happened, but I lost interest in the Internet. There were no shows I wanted to watch...

Fluorescent Smoke In a Glass Jar
Every once in a while, I’m seized by a vivid thought.  Images and phrases like the one above will linger in my mind, begging to at least be verbalized if not captured.  I’m not sure why it occurs, but when it does, I always feel like a little part of me is falling into place.  Maybe I should start a small collection.

Ten Things You Wish You Could Say To People Although I’m known for being somewhat conservative, you can cuss around me.  Really.  I’m not as easily offended as you think I am.  At the very least, I can handle it much better than this restraint-induced awkwardness. One of the main reasons why I’m not maintaining eye contact with you while we’re talking is because I feel...

It's getting kind of cold here
Maybe I should buy and wear this: On second thought…never. By the way, the reason why my bedroom is so chilly nowadays is because… Do you see that air conditioner up there beside my bed? Its back end sticks out into the parking lot on the other side of this wall. Now, see these holes?: I can stick my fingers in these apertures and wiggle them outside. While these openings...

FREEZING
Miami temperatures have dropped to a record-breaking 55 degrees here.  As a result, the doctors are coming in wearing winter coats and are shivering up a storm.  Today, one asked us, trembling, “Aren’t you freezing?” The majority of us who are from California evenly replied, “Nope.” _____________________________________________________ In other news, (online) quiz...

Rest in Peace, Grandma
Grandma passed away at around 3:00am this morning.  Since mom and I had requested she be placed on a morphine drip, we’re hoping that she passed without much pain.  Mom said that grandma looked like she was sleeping.  I’ve returned to Miami so unfortunately I won’t be able to attend her funeral. Grandma’s back with grandpa and Uncle Richard now.  Coincidentally, tomorrow...

Into 2010
Yesterday, dad, obaachan (my paternal grandma), and I visited grandma (my maternal grandmother) at the hospital.  She was lucid and laughing and enjoyed the red tulips we brought her very much.  She told me that she loved me and that I was such a sweet, good granddaughter.  :-)  However, this morning when mom and I visited her, she could not talk, couldn’t even prop herself up, and suffered...
